How we rank stores

Last updated 19 Oct 2026.

This page explains what decides which stores we show for a book and in what order. The same rules apply to every book and every store.

Which stores we show

We link to Bokus and Adlibris for every book with a known ISBN, and to Studentlitteratur for books Studentlitteratur publishes. The link goes to the store's page for that ISBN.

For e-books we link to the print edition's ISBN when we know it. Without one, Swedish e-books (ISBN 978-91) get links with their own ISBN, and other e-books get no store links.

In what order

Stores that show a price come first, lowest price for the book at the top. Shipping is not counted in this order. At equal prices, and for stores without a price, stores are in alphabetical order.

Right now no store sends us prices, so stores are listed alphabetically.

The first two stores are shown straight away. The rest are under “All stores”.

Commission

Store links are advertising links: LitBook may earn a commission when you buy through them. Commissions do not affect which stores we show or their order, and no store pays for a better position.

Which edition we link to

We match each book on the list to an edition in the Libris library catalogue and link to that edition's ISBN. We mark how certain the match is, and “As written on the list” shows the list's own text. Sometimes we choose the edition by hand. If Libris has a newer edition than the one we link to, the card says so, but we do not change the link for that reason. The list on uu.se always takes precedence.

Total price for the course

Once stores show prices, we work out what the course's books cost at each store. The store with the most of the books comes first, and among equals the one with the lowest total, including shipping where we know it. We also show the cheapest way to split the order between stores.

Search results

When you search, a course with exactly that course code comes first, then the courses and programmes whose name or code is closest to what you typed.
